SYSTEMS ENGINEER III #7231 (7/23/2010)

This position will ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of in-house information systems that support core organizational functions.  This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems.  The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical and problem solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.  This position carries the additional role of team leadership and guidance to subordinates.  Ensures that all tier 2 Help Desk support calls are closed in a timely manner for all members fo the department.  Capable of organizing and leading the Systems Administration department staff.  Provides weekly performance reports to management.  Ensures the quality of service to credit union staff.

Mimimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • 4 to 6 years' experience in Systems Administration or related field
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP stacks and their functionality
  • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2003/2008, Linus (RedHat)
  • Advanced knowledge of Internet Information Services 5.x and 6.0 and 7.x
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of Microsoft Exchange and MS SQL Server and Microsoft Office product solutions
  • Knowledge of VMware support & maintenance
  • Working knowledge of applicaztion security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow standard practice and procedures in analyzing situations to determine the appropriate response
  • Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
  • Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major cousework in information systems, computer science or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in large scale, server based administration systems analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance, server administration, vendor software analysis and installation and troubleshooting and repair of servers, PCs and associated equipment and software to include two (2) years' direct supervisory experience in a management and/or administrative capacity
  • Certifications in A+, MCSE, CCNA, etc. preferred
  • Good problem solving skills; ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
  • Ability to handle constantly changing flow of traffic; remain productive during slow times and be able to multitask effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations
  • Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision
